LC Vision

“To achieve over 1 million visits per year through being the best leisure destination in Wales”

Bay Leisure Ltd manages the LC on behalf of the City and County of Swansea.  The LC a flagship leisure complex for Swansea and is “the most visited paid for attraction in Wales” and has been since it opened (802,000 visitors last year)!

The LC boasts world class fitness facilities including a two storey gym, with over 180 pieces of Technogym cardio and strength equipment, Synrgy functional rig, spin studio and a Group Exercise program unrivalled in Wales …and a very relaxing wet spa.

The LC is also home to the largest Waterpark in the region, with slides, flumes, waves and lots of fun to be had for all the family.  In addition the LC has the Boardrider,  our indoor surfing machine, a 30ft climbing wall, a four storey interactive aquatic themed soft play area and double sports & events hall.  The LC also offers the Coffee shop and the Bistro for drinks and refreshments. There really is everything under one roof at the LC, perfect for a great family day out!

LC Management

Nic Beggs – General Manager

nic to useNic has worked for Bay Leisure since its creation in 2007. Starting off as Sales and Marketing manager before becoming General Manager at the LC and then Group Sales and Marketing Manager. Nic moved to Swansea from England over 13 years ago and has always worked within the leisure sector. Starting fresh from university Nic worked for Saga Holidays for six years travelling the globe looking after Saga customers on both land and water and when he moved to Swansea he was fortunate enough to work at the ‘The Glamorgan & Health & Racquets Club’ before getting involved in opening a new five a side football centre in Treboeth, Playfootball.

Nic is a huge sports fan and loves anything that involves a racquet or ball of any kind, although now he is having to get used to watching and not doing so much, you are more likely to see him out on the golf course when time permits. Nic has now reprised his role as General Manager at the LC and  feels very strongly about the LC and wants to continue to grow the flagship leisure complex in Swansea to new heights.

Emma Allchurch – Front of House Manager

emma allchurchAfter leaving school at 16 Emma soon made a career for herself with Lloyds Bank Plc. After 21 years service, based in several branches in and around Swansea and a brief spell in London Emma joined the team at the LC for a new challenge.

Initially Emma started as Reception team leader and has progressed to Front of House Manager incorporating Reception and the cleaning team. Emma also manages the operation of large events at the LC including staged events and exhibitions. Emma is one of our most experienced managers and has even run the LC herself for well over a year.

Emma says of the LC ‘It’s a great place to work. The atmosphere is relaxed and we make sure the customer has as much fun as we do!’

Rachel Curtis – Waterpark  Manager

Rachel Curtis 1Rachel has worked in the leisure industry since 1998 in various leisure facilities across Neath Port Talbot and enjoyed being able to reach such a broad spectrum of different people. Rachel was the area manager of the Port Talbot leisure facilities until the Afan Lido fire forced redundancies. She then transferred her skills and experience to the LC. Rachel is now enjoying the opportunity to continue developing the best customer focussed team she has ever come across at the LC.

She manages the LC Waterpark with its large team of lifeguards and supervisors.

 

Clive Thomas– BLL Maintenance Manager

Clive has been with Bay Leisure since 2008 when he started as a Maintenance Mechanical Engineer at the LC. He started his career at 15 as an apprentice for Thyssen Krupp, finishing 7 years of training and collage at British Areospace in Llanelli.

Previous to Bay leisure Clive had worked for BOSCH in Cardiff for many years starting as a Line Technician, a very rewarding experience as the German Company is synonymous with quality and customer focus. Then it was move back to the Swansea area to work for Pure Wafer Ltd, world leaders in silicon wafer reclaim, starting as a production technician before taking on the role of maintenance coordinator and facilities engineer. While at Pure Wafer Clive worked for some of the leading blue chip companies in the world such as Intel, Motorola and Infineon, gaining a lot of experience along the way

Since joining the team at Bay Leisure Clive has developed his role from an engineer to LC Maintenance Manager and is now looking after Bay Leisure Maintenance and the Health and Safety. Clive says of the LC ‘It’s a brilliant facility and one that we should all be proud of as people travel from all over to experience it and it’s the leading tourist attraction.’

Chris Jones – Fitness Manager

Chris has been in leisure for over 18 years and has recently joined the management team here at the LC.

Having enjoyed a successful career in combat sports, Chris has, in recent years, focussed hard on his studies – he comes to the LC from Gower College Swansea where he was the Leisure, Sport and Fitness Assessor and Tutor, helping other instructors achieve their qualifications. At the moment he is studying for an MA Masters in Sports Management and Leadership at Cardiff Metropolitan University.

 

Chris says: “I am really pleased to be leading the highly-regarded health and fitness team at the LC. I am very well acquainted with the LC and with Bay Leisure as a group and I very much respect their ethos of fitness and wellbeing for everyone. The LC is, I think, unique in many ways in that it has a very strong team of specialists, many of whom have solid experience in professional sports, and who are passionate about their specialisms, but who are great communicators and are very good at making people of all fitness levels feel empowered and enthused to reach their goals.”
